Silver Creek Equine  Welcomes You

Silver Creek Equine PC is just the latest evolution of a commitment to serving the equine veterinary needs of the Willamette valley that began with Dr. Mike practicing out of his home in Shaw over 40 years ago.
Dr. Mike’s devotion to quality, practical, and accessible care has not changed.  In the near future, Silver Creek Equine LLC will be separate from the small animal portion of Silver Creek Animal Clinic to allow both operations to better focus on their specific interest areas.  You’ll notice that we now have a new phone number 503 967-4404 for horse related business, and if you visit us in person, our office is now located in the barn haul-in facility which shares the parking lot with Silver Creek Animal Clinic.  Until the formal separation occurs, however, checks should still be written to Silver Creek Animal Clinic as we are still operation under the same umbrella at this time.
Joining Dr. Mike will be Julie Hannan-Palmer, who began her career as his inside technician in 1995 and will help make this transition as seamless as possible, providing you the same great attention to your scheduling needs, addressing your requests for prescription refills, and acting as a conduit for messages to Dr. Mike.

About Us

Michael A. Stewart DVM

Dr. Stewart graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. He has practiced in the Willamette Valley for over 30 years. He is a member of the American Association of Veterinary Medicine, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and Northwest Equine Practitioners Association.

Dr. Sandiford grew up in Central Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine before finding her place at Silver Creek Animal Clinic in 2018.  Her professional interests include just about everything veterinary, she is as excitable as she is dedicated to her patients and clients.  Before becoming Dr. Sandiford, Ali spent many years working in the trenches as a horse trainer specializing in young and/or ‘difficult’ horses. In addition to multiple injuries, those years propagated a sharp eye for lameness and an inability to take herself too seriously.
Outside of work Ali enjoys the company of her horses Jack-Jack and Tuna, her Great Dane Louie aka The Medical Nightmare.  She looks forward to building stronger connections within the community and discovering all of the things that make Silverton a wonderful place to live.

Julie Hannan-Palmer, Practice Manager
I've been with Silver Creek Animal Clinic since 1996, first serving as a surgery assistant before becoming the primary equine technician, a role that I still have.  I love to travel, spend time with my family, and search for fine dining and great wine wherever I go. This is me with my dog Pyper lee piglet pretty puppy when she came in while still with her mother.  I'm a member of the Silverton Rotary Club, and currently serve as Past-President of the Silverton Chamber of Commerce.

Brittnie Haynes

Hi! My name is Brittnie. My best friend has 4 paws and I’m pretty convinced she is the love of my life. Her name is Lucy Lou! I’ve lived in Silverton my whole entire life. I live for puppy kisses and snuggles. When I’m not at the clinic I’m either enjoying a glass of wine or doing some type of outdoor activity with my dogs. On the side from the clinic I am a eyelash artist! I can’t wait to meet your precious animals!"

Maria started with Dr. Stewart in 1992 and is his longest tenured employee.  She also works for a local Thoroughbred racehorse farm and her love of horses dates back to her childhood.
